Plum Vitamin C Serum Review : Fragrance Free
In today's post I am sharing my experience with the newly launched Vitamin C Serum by Plum.
Plum is an Indian brand which has a huge range of skincare and haircare products.
This brand is now coming up with a very good range of products which are free from artificial fragrance and contain potent actives.
Coming to the details-
What does the product say?
This serum is packed with Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (EAA) boosted by natural antioxidants from Japanese mandarin and Kakadu Plum for reducing dullness, sunspots, hyperpigmentation and plumping up the skin.
Ingredients-
Aqua, Ethyl Ascorbic Acid (eq. to 15% Vitamin C), Propanediol, Betaine, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Ethoxy Diglycol, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Citrus Reticulata (Mandarin) Peel Extract, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Caprylyl Glycol, Trilaureth-4 Phosphate, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Gluconate.
Price and quantity-
20 ml for 550 INR
30 ml for 790 INR
Shelf life after opening- 6 months.
Packaging-
The serum comes in a dark tinted glass bottle with a dropper. Storage of vitamin C in a dark colored bottle is really important as light can make it lose its efficacy.
Texture and consistency-
The serum is very lightweight with a slightly viscous texture. It has a cloudy appearance. The product glides on really effortlessly on the skin and gets absorbed within a few minutes without giving any sticky or tacky residue.
How to use it?
Vitamin C serums can be used daily both morning as well as evening after cleansing your face thoroughly. Then you can follow up with your moisturiser. If you are using Vitamin C serum during the day apply a good sunscreen afterwards to protect your skin from the UV rays.
My experience with the product-
I've used various percentages and types of Vitamin C in my skincare from L- ascorbic acid, ethyl ascorbic acid to sodium ascorbyl phosphate and never experienced any bad results after using them *touchwood* 😅
This serum contains 17.5% Ethyl ascorbic acid which contains 86% of active vitamin C which is equivalent to 15% of vitamin C provided in this product.
Apart from EAA, they have also used mandarin peel extract and kakadu plum which are other good sources of vitamin C and have antioxidant properties.
They help in brightening dull complexion and even out the skin tone. Rose extract acts as an antiseptic and has astringent properties which help in tightening enlarged pores, calms and brightens the skin tone.
I use this serum every morning followed by my moisturiser and sunscreen. I've paired it with niacinamide containing products too and it didn't irritate my skin at all.
The formula of the product does not feel heavy, sticky or oily and imparts a subtle glow on the skin. It reduces sebum production and my skin looks fresh for a very long period of time.
Vitamin C serums can be paired with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E to maximise its benefits.
